Calm Waters, Boisterous Guests! March 8, 2019

Donna, Dave, Nancy and Gary, joined Karen and me for a sail on Friday afternoon.  We rescheduled from a few days earlier when temps were low, precip was high and we're glad we did!  We even spotted a dolphin playing in the calm river but we failed to snap a photo.
Dave took a number of great photos!

Friday proved to be spectacularly sunny with light, warm, fun-to-sail breezes.  The wind was so low that we drifted at less than 1 knot on a few occasions, but mostly we were sailing at speeds between 2 to 3 knots.

Although no records were at risk of being broken, the sailing was very comfortable, the company was great fun and the conversation ranged from mildly impolite to downright raucous!  The six of us have loads of fun telling stories on each other and sharing the gossip of the day.

The sailing did have some interesting quirks when the breeze began as a southerly, died to nothing, cranked back up but from the north, then gradually clocked around to a southeasterly.  There were also several boats, trawlers and sailboats both represented, traversing the ICW, so we maneuvered to remain out of their paths.
