Island Line Rail Trail - August 1, 2020

A wonderful 26 mile bicycle ride today along the eastern shore of Lake Champlain.  Avoiding pets, leashes, distracted walkers and superspeed cyclists made downtown Burlington a challenge for Karen & me, but the suburban and causeway sections were very beautiful and pleasant.  And we stopped for a terrific "Creamee" enroute!

An interesting "Compass" or miniature "Stonehenge" near the beginning of the trail. Click Here for panoramas.

The lakeside views were captivating

Karen and I really enjoyed the suburban sections of this ride,
including this spot just north of downtown Burlington.

The end of the causeway is circled 2 miles away.
The total length pedaled on the causeway was
2.7 miles each way for a total of 5.4 miles.

That's Mount Mansfield as seen from the causeway

The opposite end of the causeway is circled, 2.7 miles away.
There is a bike ferry that usually runs from the
floating pier, below the red circle, for
crossing the Gap to Grand Isle, but
it wasn't running (COVID-19?)

Bitter end of the causeway.  I saw a few sailboats,
but mostly powerboats.  I didn't see
your former sailboat, Jerry.  ⛵😞

We celebrated our wonderful ride with a "Creamee!"
