My thanks go to our USAF Rescue team and the local Brevard County Florida Fire Rescue. These wonderful folks confirmed that my emergency PLB (Personal Locator Beacon) works quite well.
The story is that my PLB dates to 2010 and I was concerned that the battery needed replacement. There is a "Test" button on the PLB for that purpose (I thought!) So I pressed it. Very soon after I got calls from the above agencies, concerned that I might have an emergency. I was slow enough in responding to their calls that I met the local Fire Rescue team in person.
I'm quite embarrassed and upset with myself for wasting their time, but I am pleased and impressed with their response. And I'm glad my unit works properly. I just wish I knew how to test the battery without activating the beacon.😳
