Crawfordsville, IN

Enjoying a cold beer with Randy.
Arriving in C'ville, I connected with my college roommate, Randy Allen.  As he has wonderful neighbors, they permit me to park in their 'hood while I'm visiting Randy and friends in C'ville.

I've been driving past this pub since my college
days, but this was my first visit.

Randy and I catch our lacrosse team vs Wittenburg
at Fischer Field, Mud Hollow Stadium, Wabash College.

Wittenburg took and early and strong lead before
Wabash fought back tying the score.
Sadly, Witt scored again to force a Wabash loss.

Bill, Murph & Randy visit the American Legion
in Lafayette, IN.

Colorado to Indiana

Enjoying the big game in downtown Denver.

One of the best things about this trip is visiting my oldest son in Denver.  This time Allen IV snagged hockey tickets for the Avalanche hosting the Edmonton Oilers.

It was Grateful Dead Night at the Arena
so the music was first rate.

The next day I rode my bike
along parts of the Denver trails
I hadn't seen before.
Great ride!

Then headed eastward.

First stop was at the same city park where I camped a year earlier at Karrer Park in McCook, NE.
For that post, Click Here.

This campsite was outside Ayr, Nebraska at
Crystal Lake Campground which I discovered
last year during my stay with a nearby Boondockers Host.
Unfortunately, they were unavailable this year.

These clouds were lit up by the sunset at Crystal Lake.

This was the view outside Kelly VI from my campsite
near Atchison, Kansas.

A unique campsite at the Atchison Fishing Lake!

These gorgeous, flowering trees were often
lining the highway as I traversed Missouri
on US36 today. This tree was in Hannibal, MO.

My campsite just east of Hannibal, MO in Illinois.

I passed through Hannibal last year and got several
pics of the sights in Hannibal.

No pictures of the truck stop where I spent my last night before arriving at the Crawfordsville, IN the next day.

Arizona to Colorado

View entering the Salt River Canyon, Arizona
April eighth Kelly VI and I departed Tucson heading for Indiana and my temporary work with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  My first day took me to Globe, AZ and an overnight at the casino east of town.  The second day had us crossing the Salt River using the dramatic switchback road, AZ 60, with tremendous views looking into and across the canyon as I drove from about 4500 feet of elevation down to river level at 3400 feet, then climbing back up to 4500 feet.

For maps of the trek through the canyon,
see below, at the end of this post.

This was the display on
Google Maps as I entered
the switchbacks.
