Peñasco, MX

A mini vacation from Tucson to nearby Puerto Peñasco, Mexico added a wonderful, international zest to my winter snowbirding.  Our arrival at our on-the-beach campsite was soon followed by a beautiful sunset.

You'll notice that we turned left at the Why.  😊

Our neighbor to the east of the campground
was "Wrecked at the Reef," a pub with
live music on the beach.

As a tourist I had to catch the popular sites!

Google Translate provided
the translation for the
plaque below the statue.

The "Shrimp" statue anchored one end of this plaza
overlooking the Sea of Cortez.

This statue/artwork anchored the
opposite side of the plaza.

Across from the plaza these steps highlighted Peñasco's
connection with the sea.

This fishing vessel is probably unfinished.

I gravitate to local marinas whenever I'm near the water.
Tim is the owner of the beautiful wooden schooner, Windolee.
If you watch the made for TV movie 'Franklin and Eleanor',
the 'Presidential' yacht was Windolee. She was also
featured in a Merit cigarette ad campaign, perhaps in the 70's,
in the TV series 'Chicago Story' and in the
Time Life book series as an example of a 'cruising yacht'.
