Moraine Sailing Club - September 7-27, 2020

This September I've thoroughly enjoyed my weekends as I sailed, breakfasted and even weathered a downpour on Lake Arthur with members of the Moraine Sailing Club.  Some wind gusts had us heeling over 20 degrees, a venture to the lower reaches of the lake tasked us with a short tacking challenge that we barely accomplished.

Bill presented Keith with a cake for his birthday,
celebrated with Captain Jim

St. Mary's, PA - September 13-18, 2020

Sunset from Guy's front door
This week Guy hosted me at his home in St. Mary's, PA.  He owns Stewart's Jewelers in town and rents apartments and a storefront in his building to his tenants.

That's the full moon peeking through the leaves

After a fun drive along small, rural roads I spent a beautiful evening and morning in Clear Creek State Park.

Butler Rail Trail - September 10, 2020

My first long ride since New England.  Butler, PA to Freeport and back.  Elevation change was over 600 feet, but stretched over 20 miles, it was easy.  Although I enjoyed the bicycle ride, it would have been more fun with Karen.

Lake Arthur Sail - September 6, 2020

Sean invited me for a great day of SAILING on Saturday.  Thank you, Sean!
BTW, Sean has been great crew for me aboard Kelly IV.

From Sean's Facebook post:
"I finally made a race this year and had expert crew with Allen Murphy on board.  Murph made a heck of an entrance, being dropped off at the start by rigid inflatable boat.  (Ed. Note: the Moraine Sailing Club's safety boat)  We had a fast start and sailed well, but were no match for Captain Dick, More Like It and Gratitude.  Captain Dick claims he was dragging an anchor just to give us a chance, but he smoked us all.  It was great to catch up with Murph, and a nice start to  the Labor Day weekend.

EDIT:  it turns out that Murph and I won the handicap scoring.  Probably from prior horrible times, but we'll take it!"
