Arizona Spring

Spring, like the rest of the years has spectacular sunsets and sunrises.  This blog entry begins with a small sample.

We found this "Man In The Maze" while
on our hike, March 26th.
It is a visual representation of the
Tohono O'odham Indians belief in life,
death and the life after death.

March 27th Jada & I took a ride into the
desert north of Tucson and enjoyed a hike.
This view is from a hilltop.

Murph at the top of the hill.

Jada on the hillside below me.

A nearby wash we hiked.

Jada was commissioned to create this sea turtle.

This piece found it's new home in Albuquerque.

In it's new home in Albuquerque.

Hockey in Arizona

Murph and Jada in their Penguins gear.
The Pittsburgh Penguins came to Arizona to play the Coyotes, so it was imperative to catch the game while in town!

As St. Patrick's Day was only two days ago,
the Coyotes wore green sweaters for their warmup.

The Pens take the ice, waiting for the Coyotes.

Jada makes the Penguin gear look great!

Wonderful outcome!

This band played in the stadium concourse.

I didn't expect one of the
travel options to include
beaming into the
local transporter from
the mother ship!  😄

Grand Canyon, AZ Baseball

Bill, Murph, Rob

March 13-18, 2022

Bill Taylor flew to Phoenix from Dallas then we drove to Chino Valley, AZ where we caught up with Rob & Biz.  The next morning the three caballeros drove Kelly VI, my camper, to the Grand Canyon where we enjoyed time together camping, hiking and enjoying the tremendous views of the Grand Canyon.

The route from Tucson to Chino Valley

Chino Valley to the GC

New friend at the pub just south of the GC

Four friends enjoying dinner.  :-)

We had our proper passes so
no need to pay these fees.

Great Free campsite at Long Jim Loop, USFS
The next day started and ended with deer!
We caught this doe as we walked from our parking spot
to the South Rim of the GC.

There were folks hiking the ice covered trails down into the
canyon, but we chose to stay on the paths on the rim that were
exposed to the sun and ice-free.

The guys caught me posing on the canyon rim.

Back at our campsite,
we found more deer!

The next day we took a longer hike
along the rim, heading to the west.

Look way into the canyon and you'll see the trail.

That's the Colorado River, 5,000 feet below.

The next day, back to Chino Valley, then the pubs
along Whiskey Row, Prescott, AZ.

Bill & I left Rob at his home,
then went to Phoenix for a Spring ball game
in the Cactus League.

Spring Training baseball is always fun!
Now we've enjoyed the Cactus League
after several years watching the
Grapefruit League.
