Iowa

A huge sculpture at the
Council Bluffs, Iowa end of the Kerry Bridge.

July 30, 2021

Rode my bike for short mileage, yet included two states and the wide Missouri River.

You'll notice the bridge deck actually winds
north of the eastern pylon, then south of the western pylon.
A very cool, fun design at the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge.

Two states, while standing over the Missouri River.

Sculpture presenting the elevations as pioneers trekked west
at the Western Historic Trails Center, Council Bluffs, IA.

Under the I-80 bridge, the Missouri River
runs below the furthest pylons.

My current campsite. "The corn is as high as an elephant's eye . . ."

I boondocked on a friend's farm just north of Woodward, IA.

Entry at each end of the High Trestle Bridge
has these magnificent pillars.

Great second bike ride in Iowa on the High Trestle Trail!  The temperature was 30 degrees cooler than a few days prior on the Cowboy Trail in Valentine, NE.  The high was in the mid 70s.  BIG Difference!  And No flat tires. 🙂

Very dramatic views from this bridge.

I came back to see the bridge at night.

Really a wonderful artwork, especially at night,

Along my hike from the farm.
