C'Bay Solomons

Departing Back Creek, Annapolis at Sunrise
As posted on FB by Captain Sean Stull:

South Paw has her crew of experienced sailors, Allen Murphy, Warren Stewart, Bill Paviol, Sarah Paviol, and Zach Sprys ready for the 44nm voyage south to Solomons Island this weekend. I flew over it earlier today, and while the plane covered the trip in 10 minutes, it will take us 10 hours sailing.  After our provisioning trip, we dinghied/kayaked across Back Creek for dinner at The Boatyard.  Our plan is to be up at 0500 and cast off at 0600 to take advantage of the best wind early.  The wind still looks light, but it is at the best angle we've seen all week.  The current doesn't look like it will be a factor. We had a fun first night and are looking forward to the trip.

We arrived at the pier by Davis' Pub safely.

The crew walked across Eastport to the Boatyard for
a great dinner.  Capt. Sean, Bill, Guy, Zach, Sarah, Murph.

While the dinghy nav lights aren't typical, we believe
they satisfy the regs and we arrived safely at Port A.

Passing Greenbury Point, Severn River, Annapolis.

That's a cruise ship returning northbound towards Baltimore.

Bill is enjoying his hand at the helm on
a beautiful, if calm, day.

Guy joins Bill at the helm, but isn't much help. 😊

As we closed within almost an hour of Solomons
the wind picked up and we were Sailing!

The sailing proved to be truly enjoyable!

Our walk to and from dinner was along the Patuxent River.

Sunset at the US Rt 2 bridge crossing the Patuxent River.
