Oregon

My boondocking campsite in Redmond, OR

May 10-24, 2021

Crossed through Hines & Redmond, OR this week, enjoying scenery very different from AZ & NV.  Also got to spend time walking & cycling.

View of the Three Sisters from north of Redmond

Mt. Washington, OR, a pic I took May 13,
soon before parking for the night.
Not to be confused with Mt. Washington, NH.

My campsite, May 13-14.

Great hike west of the Three Sisters
the morning of the 14th, before
continuing west in OR.

Trail circled east of this smaller peak,
you can see how steep this one is.

About 2/3 of the way up, that's
Three Fingered Jack to the northeast,
with the rugged stone peaks and lots of snow.

The contours reflect how steep
Three Fingered Jack is.

The view from the top, looking west.

Foster Lake, Oregon, it's been a gorgeous drive today,
dropping my elevation from 4,000ft to 200ft.

My view from my camper in Corvallis, OR.

May 15 bike ride, Corvallis, OR.

Steep hike to the top of Marys Peak,
west of Corvallis.

The landscape on the trail is rather rugged.

Beautiful spring flowers everywhere.

I'm at the top!  👍

The trail traversed a very steep slope.

It's a very steep drop if one slips off the trail.

Beautiful day driving Oregon's Pacific coastline on US 101 on May 19.

Update: Since I drove north of the 45th parallel, I'm now closer to the north pole than to the equator.  I haven't been this far north since last October in Petoskey, MI.

Now camping on Oregon's Pacific coast
at Nehalem Bay State Park.
Deer wander unafraid through the campground.
Same as at the Grand Canyon in 2016.

I took a short bike ride around the state park after pitching camp.

Nehalem Bay at low tide.

My current campsite. I can hear the breakers from here.
