St. Thomas, USVI

USVI, January 12-14, 2022

Admiral Kirby Lotz and Captains Cassano & Cole invited me to Skipper their charter boat in the BVI.  It was a wonderful opportunity, so I agreed to meet them in St. Thomas for the ferry ride to Road Town on Tortola.  As the airfare was no different if I stayed for 8 days vs 10 days, I flew in a couple days early to enjoy the sights of St. Thomas.  It proved even better as Jada, from Tucson, was able to join me for the entire time in both the USVI and BVI.

Our room was a comfortable little bungalow
on the mountain ridge overlooking
Charlotte Amalie.

The view from our balcony was breathtaking.

Our view the next morning.

Banana trees were just below our patio.

As we walked about Charlotte Amalie, we discovered
how some visitors arrive in St. Thomas.

The seaplanes land in the harbor.

After walking all around the harbor and
Charlotte Amalie we decided to
wet our whistles.

The pub was in a very old stone building
where the seemingly random building
pattern caught our eye.

This plaque told us about the pub.

On the 14th we moved from our hilltop vista
to this modest hotel in town,
walking distance to the ferry for
our morning ride to the BVI on the 15th.

In the open air lobby of Galleon House

Even though Galleon House was in town,
there were still nice views of the city.

The hillsides in Charlotte Amalie are
very steep and challenging.

Jada enjoyed how someone had decorated this tree.

Each room door had pretty artwork,
this was our door.

In the afternoon heat, we cooled off with
a swim in the hotel pool.

This fellow and a couple of his smaller brethren
wandered about the open air lobby.
