Pinkerton Tunnel, Confluence, PA - June 20, 2020

The section of the Great Allegheny Passage Trail
that Karen and I pedaled today
A very beautiful rail trail today with lush, green canopy overhead, wooden bridges balanced high above the rushing rivers and even a dark, dank 800 feet long tunnel!  We pedaled uphill about 500ft, but like most rail trails, the rate of ascent was minimal (1%?).  And the return ride was all downhill! :-)

The Pinkerton Tunnel

This is one of three bridges we rode over the Casselman River.  This one is about 400 feet above the river.  The Pinkerton Tunnel (800 feet long) is at the north end of the bridge and we crossed another bridge just beyond the tunnel!

This video shows Karen, the bridge and tunnel.

The thick forest cover was a wonderful venue with lots of shade.
