Fleet 10, Day 2

Kent Narrows Bridge, we crossed three times in 12 hours!

June 19, 2022

From Captain Sean:

Chesapeake Day 2:  We realized that the only fuel docks were north of the Kent Narrows bridge so we made two more passes under to get fuel and come back.

We had a good downwind sail going 5+ knots with jib only. Allen Murphy and Wesley Stull were setting up the whisker pole to help downwind when the pin in the jaw on the mast track failed and the pole cracked Murph on the head.  He was OK, but it caught everyone off guard.  (Ed. Note: The pole was not damaged by Murph's head.😊)

The rest of the sail was uneventful.  We sailed the whole way south with the wind on our starboard quarter, made one gybe to round Bennett point and motored up the Wye river.

Granary Creek Anchorage
We dropped the hook and took the dinghy and kayak ashore to hike Wye island.  After hiking about 2.5 miles we headed back through all of the Fleet 10 boats anchored in Granary Creek and started dinner.

Everyone pitched to create a terrific meal.

Murph made the shrimp and rice in the galley while I grilled the tenders in the cockpit. It was a great meal even though we forgot to cook the veggies Anita Miller sent with us. It is a beautiful and comfortable night to anchor out.

We discovered this old barn along our hike.

Wes kayaked while we took the dinghy to the trailhead.

It was a beautiful night to anchor.

Our dinghy track to the trailhead.

Our route for today.
