Ohio and PA Vaca

We followed US Route 6, a lovely track
through rural northern Indiana and Ohio.
June 12-16, 2022

Ohio was merely on our way to Pennsylvania, but even as just a waypoint we enjoyed travelling through.

Our lunch stop was in Butler, IN.

This was our boondocking site near Helena, OH.

Our host pointed out the abundance of
ripe huckleberries
It was fun picking our own berries
from the wild bushes along the creek.

Murph working on the huckleberry breakfast.

This was our turnaround point on our rural walk.

Working our way through downtown Cleveland, OH.

Erie, PA boondocking at a friend's home.

Our friend's beautiful home.

Their dog was huge!  Four feet tall!!?!!
And the friendliest gent you could meet.

The hike around their property was terrific.

Jada discovered an old, abandoned cemetery.

Murph discovered an old, abandoned outhouse.

Renting kayaks on Presque Isle,
we enjoyed a wonderful paddling trip.

When we paddled into Marina Lake this
sailboat was anchored there.
Murph recognized that this was a
cruising vessel, so we chatted with the owners
to find they're heading across Lake Erie for
waters beyond .  .  .  .

This tow greeted us as we paddled through the channel
into Presque Isle Bay.

Jada enjoying her kayak on the Bay.
That's downtown, Erie, PA behind her.

Jada takes terrific wildlife pics!

Having forgotten to turn on the tracking app,
the blue line was added to show the full kayak trip.

There is a community of houseboats,
actual homes, floating in a small cove off the main bay,
that were grandfathered and remain in the state park.

The beaches on Presque Isle, like Lake Michigan,
are just like the ocean except, No Salt, No Sharks!  😊

The lighthouse is 150 years old and is still an
official aid to navigation, lighting the
land that juts furthest into the lake.

This proved to be a terrific restaurant.

Our visit closed with a wonderful campfire.

Travelling to northeastern PA, we took the country roads .  .  .

.  .  .  and discovered a Star Wars Tie Fighter!

We made a stop to visit
Murph's parents' gravesite.

As a Navy vet and USNR retiree,
they earned a special resting place.

The hotel overlooked a wonderful
mountain brook.

The midwest vacation proved to be a terrific time.

Jada continued her trip alone as
she visits family in PA and
friends in DC and CT.
Jada created this wonderful collage sparking terrific memories.
