Seto: Heaven for Jada?

For all the clay art photos, Click Here.

Jada may have found a new home!  This suburb of Nagoya, just a couple train stops beyond Owariasahi and the Matsunagas, has more pottery shops, museums, galleries, studios, etc. than anywhere we know of.

All the best photos were taken by Jada.

As we wandered through Seto, we came across
numerous evidence of clay art, ceramics, pottery, etc.
Yet Seto has something for everyone!

See the Route 66 License Plate?!!?

What did she find?
Beautiful little clay pieces!

Seto, Japan

In addition to many pots, there were unique pieces.

This fellow in ceramic armor
greeted us as we left the train station.

Ice cream!
At the Seto FamilyMart,
a convenience store near the train station.
Jada got Ice Coffee!

Tasty!

This was just the beginning.
The volume of pottery was astounding.

This beautiful translucent piece was
on display in a glass case on
a bridge over the small river.

At the museum entrance

Most of the museum focused on clay and ceramics,
yet there were significant displays about life and culture
in Seto from past years.

Notice the slots in the backs of the rabbits?
Being clay, they have weight and substance,
serving as stands to hold a screen upright.

One end of the museum represented
old Seto from about  hundred years ago.

This interesting piece was on the lawn
in front of the museum.

This explains the origin of the
"Pot in a pot in a pot .  .  ."

On the north side of the river,
one of two Seto shopping districts,
they don't seem to open until the afternoon.

This wall surrounding a parking lot was topped
with more clay pieces than I could count.

Excellent sculptures about Seto.

And a massive fire escape!

This cute Maneki Neko was on a board
in the shopping district.
