Day 54 Kingman, AZ

At Mr. D'z Diner, Kingman.
Day 54 covered only 4 miles of Rt 66 in downtown Kingman, AZ.  But it was a great day!  Lots of classic signs, statuary, trains, parks and colorful murals.  And an excellent museum.

One of many decorations following
the Rt 66 theme at Mr. D'z Diner, Kingman.

In the parking lot of a wonderfully
decorated diner in Kingman, near the Powerhouse.

A great little park featuring a Huge locomotive
& caboose, across from the Powerhouse Visitor Center.

The less noticed.

The classic!

This terrific mural is on the side of a sister museum,
the Mohave Museum, across old Rt 66 from the Powerhouse.
All for the low price of one ticket! 👍

This is just one area of the Rt 66 Museum in
the Powerhouse Visitor Center. It takes a 360* panorama
to get only a slight flavor. You'll have to
see this in person to really enjoy it!

The Rt 66 Museum in the Powerhouse Visitor Center is great! Note the green cylinder on the passenger window of this Studebaker. I'd never seen one before, but apparently they were common in the southwest US before sir conditioning. It is a "Car Cooler".

How folks travelled Rt 66 during the Dust Bowl era.

Earlier pioneers, before the railroads.

Vintage neon in Kingman.

Many businesses in Kingman tap nicely into the Rt 66 theme.

A bit less vintage, but cool neon, nonetheless, in Kingman.

Wonderful Rt 66 artwork on three sides
of this popular diner in Kingman.

It took multiple shots to build this image of their front mural.

Classic neon in Kingman.

A terrific veteran supporting mural on the north wall .  .  .

.  .  .  and I really liked the play on Rt 66,
"Get your 'Fix' on . . ." Seemed fitting for a Rt 66 post.

The welcome sign on the North facing tower,
Kingman, AZ.

Everybody shows the welcome sign on the North facing tower,
so here's the train graphic facing south, Kingman.

Given the ears, I'm thinking jack rabbit,
but the legs say marathon runner.

This modern mural is highly visible while
tooling along Rt 66. On the south wall of
the Beale Street Theater, Kingman, AZ.
