Day 25 to Clinton, OK

20 miles of Historic Route 66 covered today, Day 25, as I made my way from Weatherford (I had a nice chat with the Mayor, a fan of Rt 66) to Clinton, OK.  I also was close to Indianapolis & took a side trip to see the town with the same name as the city of 500 fame and a place where I spent a Lot of time between 1969 -1976.  It seems the two Indianapolis' are quite different.  🙂

That's Mayor Mike Brown of Weatherford, OK!
He let me know about Weatherford's significant efforts
to prepare for the 100th anniversary of Rt 66 in 2026.
This rapidly growing city park already has several fun items,
like benches built from truck bed gates, porch swing benches,
mileage sign to other Rt 66 venues, Rt 66 cornhole games
and a HUGE windmill blade from one of the many
nearby wind turbines. And they plan to continue expanding
the fun at this park and throughout town.
Thanks for your time, Mr. Mayor!.
There's a Lot more to this park, Click.

Many spaces are filled with wind turbines,
yet plenty of spaces are "wide open."

Old Rt 66 seems to run forever westward.

Here's downtown Indianapolis.  Oklahoma, that is.

White Dog Hill has a great view and great food. Clinton, OK.

This Clinton motel has taken a rough turn
for now, The realtor's sign says "Contract
Pending." My hope is a new owner will
rehab the facility for future travelers to enjoy.

Several of the buildings on Frisco St. in Clinton, OK are named.
The building closest to the photographer is "The Dixie".
The two rightmost buildings are "Mississippi" and "Kentucky."

This theatre a very cool looking building AND I loved
the VW van.  As my siblings (Margaret, Russell, John)
will recall, our 1965 family van looked very
much like this one which is nicely restored.

"The Y on Rt 66" has been here for ages and
now serves as a used car dealer, Clinton, OK.

That concrete is the original pavement for Rt 66.

The Rt 66 Museum building seems modeled after a motel
with great posters.
