Day 11 to St. Robert, MO

Day 11 of my trek along historic Route 66.  Drove 68 miles covering 54 miles of old Route 66.

Trail of Tears Memorial, Jerome, MO

That's a statue of Mr. Baggett, builder of the Memorial,
who died in 2003

The Memorial remembers the thousands of Native Americans
who were forced in 1838 to walk from their homes,
thousands of miles, into the Indian Territory, Oklahoma.

I liked this marker near Devil's Elbow
behind the Elbow Inn at the
north end of the bridge

Although there is a slight bend in the bridge where the
northern truss meets the un-trussed (??) bridge, the
"Devil's Elbow" is the name of the bend near here on the
Big Piney River, which the bridge crosses

Plenty of room for the RV when ALONE on this 1923 bridge!

This retired fire truck resides at the south end of the bridge

This is the "new" four lane bridge (far left) & highway
built during WWII to replace the 1923 bridge.

The stonework in this BBQ restaurant
caught my eye.  In some ways similar to the
stone homes in Somerset County, PA.

Apparently there is something for everyone in Uranus, MO,
a popular tourist spot with numerous off-color references. 😀

Lots of cool, fun stuff.  For some off-color examples, Click.

The requisite Rt 66 signpost

I liked this "Freedom Rock"
& the others at this small roadside
park near Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.
