Day 19 Rt 66 in Tulsa, OK

Only saw Route 66 sights in Tulsa, OK today, but that's a FULL day!  So much to see, but the road beckons, so I'll be travelling west again tomorrow.

I just liked this sign. As the charming lady at
Buck Atom's Cosmic Curios informed me, the city
of Tulsa is encouraging businesses along Rt 66 to display
old fashioned neon signs, so there are a number of them.

This shop is known for "Buck Atom Space Cowboy."
The proprietor is a fan herself of Rt 66 and has great
stories to share.

How the shop looked, back in the day.

You'll need to
expand this, but
the info is worth it.

This explains the Elizabeth Taylor display, above.

The "Meadow Gold" district is full of great shops and stops.

IMHO, a nice example of the
art deco buildings throughout Tulsa.

This is in the cathedral district. There were
numerous penguins, all painted differently,
around the city. I enjoyed them almost as much
as the dinosaurs in Pittsburgh, PA, especially
as I'm a Penguins hockey fan.

That's the Boston Avenue United Methodist
Church spire above everything.

This statuary scene and the bridge, next, celebrate Rt 66.

This bridge, no longer in use, honors the

I stumbled on this underside view of the
Cyrus Avery Bridge, so sharing with you.

There is a bike trail Under the new bridge
worth seeing! Video 1, Video 2

I enjoy train travel, so feature this pic from
the Expo grounds not far from the "Golden Driller".

IMHO, these 4 days so far in OK
have earned me my OK state sticker.
