Day 22 Rt 66, OKC

Dark blue are driving miles, light blue is bicycling.

Only 24 miles along old Route 66 to go through Oklahoma City, Day 22.  And they are wonderful miles!  Rejuvenated areas just blocks from those not so fortunate, like all big cities, and a great experience.

I began the Rt 66 driving west on,
seeing this wonderful mural at 912 W. Britton Rd.

Heading south on Western Av, presented
many sights from old Rt 66 or
honored Rt 66 with vintage neon, etc.

This classic restaurant has been here for years.

Although "Sonic" post dates Rt 66, here on
Western Av, they added classic neon to their sign.
And there's a mural!

This is the mural on that distant fence.

More classic Rt 66 on Western Avenue
as we continue south.

The famous Will Rogers Theater.

Fun neon on the restaurant on the west side of Western Ave.

Big rhino watching over Western Avenue.

There were periodic signs along western Ave.

This garage engages the Rt 66 theme.

Zoom in on the driver of this vehicle.
He's been there a L-o-n-g Time! 🙂

Downtown OKC sports classic neon on NW 23rd St.

Of course, the capitol is famous for its oil derricks.

This is the Tribal Flag Plaza on the capitol grounds.

A Native American crowns the OK State Capitol Building.

Another oil derrick at the capitol.

On NW 23rd St & N. Classen Blvd, an old building
with a golden geodesic dome.

A classic on N. Classen Blvd, OKC.

The mural below the large milk bottle.

One of the buildings not yet renovated at NW 23rd St &
N. Classen Blvd . I loved the old, faded signs.

Since I love maps and globes, I couldn't resist this one at
the International PHC Ministries of
the Southwestern Christian University, OKC.
