While the original building was built in 1923, this dealership maintained the style when they rebuilt a section damaged by fire in 2011 (see the bulding date on the right). |
The first stop beyond Sapulpa was Bristow, OK another great town celebrating Rt 66.
Even the convenience store loves Rt 66. |
I should've taken a selfie so it's clear that when a person stands in front of the wings they become a human butterfly. |
The Bristow Train Station is now a museum. |
The Train Station connects with downtown Bristow through this plaza. |
The plaza steps up to downtown through this grand walkway. |
The walkway is lit with natural sunlight so the pioneer family plaques are easily read. |
Each of those plaques honors a pioneer family, founders of Bristow, OK. Click for panorama |

And the walkway emerges into downtown Bristow. |

I found this old home to be eye-catching. In fact, the daughter of a former resident introduced herself when she saw me taking photos. A gold dollar coin was discovered by the mother just in front of this home. |
This local business preserves the original station well. |
Depew, OK was once a busy stop along Rt 66 but is now close to a ghost town. |

Stroud, OK displays this replica of an Ozark Trail (predecessor to Rt 66) milepost. Apparently there is a real one just outside of Stroud, but the guidebook said the old road is very rough gravel and mud. I decided my 6 ton RV was Not the vehicle to challenge that byway. |

I just liked this old building, formerly a bank, Davenport, OK |
Even the business in the modern pole building gets it! |
This local bank, Payne County Bank, has their parking lot adorned with old service station signs, not unlike a collector's yard I visited in Indiana. Click for panorama |
